We had been planning their engagement session since the Summer. We decided then that we would wait until October....they didn't like hot temperatures so we would wait for that perfect fall weather. Well, their session date arrived and IT WAS ALMOST 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE! Oh, Richmond weather. You can't plan anything around it.
At first the sun was HOT but you really wouldn't be able to tell by the photos. Luckily I wasn't the one in the photos because I am sure you would have definitely noticed I was sweating out there. That was the 2nd day in a row I wore jeans to a shoot thinking it was appropriate in October...the next day I learned my lesson and returned to shorts.
Katie and Travis were a blast. Serious just enough but mostly just a bundle of laughs. We explored the pumpkin patch together for an hour and had a good time. I love clients that are up for anything and roll with whatever I ask them to do. This was my first time at Lloyd Family Farms and I loved it. It provided with lots of awesome photo opportunities and the people there were sweet and helpful too!
I am excited about Katie and Travis's wedding next year! It is quite apparent that they can not take a bad photo and I certainly appreciate that :) But also, I have a feeling that not only is the wedding gonna be super fun but super unique as well.
This was definitely a wedding like no other! Mindy and Johnny took us on a trolley tour of Richmond to celebrate their love all leading up to a beautiful ceremony overlooking the city and a big ol' party at The Camel! I did a quick pull of a few photos as a preview of their awesome day on Sunday.
We started off with a first look at Joe's Inn where the trolley scooped us up. The bride and groom shared a private moment on the way to grab the rest of the party where they read their vows to each other. I LOVED this! It was so beautiful and personal and instead of saying them during the ceremony in front of everyone, they exchanged the wriitten copies!
Once we grabbed everyone from The Camel we did a tour through Richmond with Johnny as our history guide! There were two quick stops, in Hollywood Cemetery and the Canal Walk, before arriving at Libby Hill Park for the ceremony. It was a beautiful day full of SO MANY big smiles! These guys are the most fun...we even disappeared from the reception for a bit to hit up the Hof Building so they could play some shuffleboard!
SUPER DUPER CONGRATS, MINDY AND JOHNNY! Love you guys!!!
(Also, once again...big thanks to my magical assistant Mr. Trevor Eales)
Gearing up for a winter wedding next week and reminiscing about a winter wedding from last year!
Angela and Dave got married last February in downtown Richmond and had a magical day full of love and non-stop laughs! The wedding took place at the John Marshall Hotel and provided a wonderful scene for a beautiful ceremony and a rocking reception!
Fun note about this wedding...
By the end of the day I kept thinking that I had been feeling a bit off and more exhausted than after a normal wedding day. Two days late I found out I was expecting with my baby girl! What a crazy adventure that began from there!
Super thanks to Kai Eason for second shooting for part of the day!
I LOVE meeting new clients! This session was the first time I got to meet the "D" family and we had a blast. Mom nailed the whole coordinated outfits, dad was a bundle of jokes and the kids were SO well behaved but still enthusiastic about our time together. They were all about doing what I suggested and all about making suggestions of their own. Turns out that Mom and I went to the same high school and were neighbors of some of my other clientfriends. (that is not an actual word but I am gonna make it one!) We had wonderful weather too....definitely got lucky for the late fall in Richmond....but that is how RVA works! One weekend could be freezing and the next could be Spring like! Never be afraid to watch the forecast and contact me for a Winter shoot!
I started volunteering my time with the Ronald McDonald House here in Richmond around 5 years ago (I think!) and I have such a wonderful time every time I do. I started off by shooting their annual Red Shoe Rendezvous every year. I have so much fun shooting this event for them! Not only do they raise over $200,000 every year to help house families who are going through such awful ordeals but the event itself is incredibly fun! I was unable to attend this year as it was held two weeks before the birth of my daughter but I have already agreed to help them out next year again! I also try to go by the house and photograph their special events when I can and also to take photos of the families there for their annual Christmas card. It is wonderful to go by the house (or attend the benefit) and see all my photos from over the years! The families I get to meet are so inspiring. The kids have the most amazing spirits and you feel overwhelmed by the love just being around them! This summer I stopped by to take photos of another awesome family and here are just a few from that wonderful morning! Young Brady just loved watering the plants out back so of course, we had to take a few images of that!
Here is a little more about Brady's story on the Ronald McDonald House website: http://www.rmhc-richmond.org/mission-accomplished-december/
